So check it, Tuesday night at Fat Baby, Kid Sister and Flosstradamus came through to reck shop, and reck shop they did. As always it was great to see my old friend and homegirl Melisa aka Kid Sis and her bro Josh of Flossy(and of course Nick Catchdubs and A-Trak.) They killed it, the show was on some real hot sweaty basement party type shit. When Kid Sis jumped into the crowd and found me to share the mic on the chourses of "Control", even though she's my homegirl and i'm a grown ass man, at that moment I felt like a 16 year old fan boy. This is Nikki Sneakers, she's dope. I met Nikki a few years back through my friends Dan and Dave(Long Island shun!) I thought she was awesome right off the bat cuz her gear was so on point. GANG GANG DANCE - RAWWAR EP

On a front note. If you haven't picked up Gang Gang Dance's new EP "RAWWAR" please do so now. Here are some words from The Social Registry.
Gang Gang Dance spent the better part of 2006 writing, performing, and recording new material for the follow up to 2005’s acclaimed God’s Money. They spent time tracking at Staygold Studios in Brooklyn with Chris Coady (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blonde Redhead), in Louisville Kentucky with Paul Oldham (who recorded their self-titled record) and then mixing at The Social Registry’s Junkyard Audio Salvage with Matt Boynton. RAWWAR is the first glimpse of exactly what the band have been up to over this prolific year. Clocking in at just over twenty minutes and sprawled across three tracks, the release plays like a Gang Gang Dance sampler of sorts; a taster for what is to come. LUVIT!

Since the date is getting closer and closer(no pun intended) i will be counting down the days with various Joy Division nik naks on the blog. So check it. Tonight at 9pm at Fat Baby, my man Shannon from Max Fish and his band ACTIVATOR will be playing a rare show before there album drops on Def Jux records. Also playing is my man Christain's band ALOKE who just finished recording a killer record with Steve Albini. What this means is...a lot of fucking rock! Sleepyhead Farah. Wowz!

So y'all remember Farah, the really cool/cute sleepyhead. Of course you do. Well she's still cool/cute and she's still sleepy. She kinda reminds me of River Phoenix in the movie, My Own Private Idaho. We went out last night, but because she's from San Fransisco, and she wakes up mad early to go to Museums(I was supposed to go to the Whitney with her but I guess i flaked), annnddd because she hasn't figured out the NYC napping system yet, she tends to hit a wall before last call. This girl is for real tired all the time, well at least late at night. Her favorite phrases are "i'm sooo tired", "I'm in a coma" and things like "wowzers" which sometimes gets cut down to "wowz" cuz she is too tired to get that last "ers" out. I'm dead serious. For a minute I thought she was on heroin(she's not) or I was boring her to death( I wasn't) but now i think she is probably just narcoleptic. Ha! So anyhoo we hit the usual Luv It sunday spots, Max Fish, and then to Sway for Morrissey/Smiths night. The long day of Museums and the booze had Farah in a coma once she hit the first cab(naps between bars, that's some new shit.) But being the trooper that she is, we made it to each spot and were even able to track down some Mac and Cheese spring rolls!(Caffeteria 17th and 7 ave) before tucking her in at 5am! she thought that was late. A trip to Starbucks the next day was much needed so she wouldn't fall a sleep on the train back to Greenpoint. I'm sure she did. Wowzers! LUVIT!

The other day, Billy Keith, K-Len, Kojo, and myself were hanging out, K-Len and I were "working", BK was drinkin' before gettin' "Southern by the Grace of God" tattooed across his chest, and Kojo was stealing my food. Anyhoo we were doin all this while watching the classic flick Boomerang. It's the movie with Eddie Murphy, Halle Barry, Robin Givens, Martin, Chris Rock, David Allen Grear, and a bunch of other nuggas. A 90's classic, and funny as shit, peep it. So i've seen the Britney performance at the VMA's a good 4 or 5 times now, and i'm feelin' it. Everybody was hatin' on it cuz she wasn't bangin' those moves out like she' used to back in the day( before she started pumpin out puppies.) Anyway I was for real feelin' that shit, in a "enjoyment of tragedy" sort of way. But don't get it twisted i'm not being ironic. I really did enjoy the fact that I knew I was watching a former goodie two shoes officially transformed into a fuck up. A fuck up that gave a big "Fuck You" to the VMA's and everybody there(and shit everybody watching for that matter)as she WALKED through her routine totally sedated. That was some REAL punk rock shit. Oh yeah buddy, don't believe that a girl who "danced right out of the womb" all of a sudden forgot how to dance. Britney knew exactly what she was doin' and did that shit on purpose, just to say "fuck the public", and I fuck with that. Unlike that fake ass contrived Madonna kiss a few years back at the VMA's, this new "I don't give a fuck" attitude is the real deal, and i'm feelin' that.
